poster2016-3-copy-663x1024

We are excited to partner as the Food Rescue Alliance* for another carefree bike ride to benefit healthy food access along the Front Range. Join us along the paths of Cherry Creek State Park dressed as your favorite fruit or veggie for a 15 mile, 30 mile, or 30 mile trailer pull**. The ride will be followed with a party on the reservoir with food, drinks, entertainment, & prizes***.

—

* The Food Rescue Alliance (FRA) is a network of bicycle-based food rescue organizations all around the world. This year, three FRA members—Denver Food Rescue, Boulder Food Rescue, and Colorado Springs Food Rescue—are collaborating to bring you the second annual Food Rescue Ride. For more information on FRA, including how you could start a chapter in your community, visit www.foodrescuealliance.org

** The trailer-pull is a challenging ride that takes extra strength and equipment. You must provide your own bicycle trailer to participate in the event. Please note the trailer cannot be more than 64 inches long or 32 inches wide. We will provide you with the 150 pounds of gardening equipment (the average weight of rescued food a DFR volunteer pulls), which you will load onto your trailer at the start of the ride and unload upon finish the 30 mile ride. You may not ditch any of the contents of the trailer along the way!

*** Prizes will be awarded for top fundraisers, best decorated trailer, and for the best dressed single, team, and trailer-pull riders. Dress as your favorite fruit or vegetable!

One more thing…

This ride is noncompetitive, meaning it’s not a race, which makes it perfect for families and cyclists of all skill levels.

Please arrive to the Smoky Hill Parking Area at Cherry Creek State Park at 7:30 am. Riders will return at 11 am for lunch and the award ceremony at 12.

8:00 – 11:00 AM : Ride
11:00 – Noon : Lunch, Drinks, Activities, Party!
Noon – 1 : Award Ceremony, Prize, & Raffle Giveaways
