2023 Community Block Party Fundraiser

Boulder Food Resuce’s first Community Block Party Fundraiser was everything that we could have hoped for. This year BFR challenged the idea that a non-profit fundraiser needs to be exclusive to raise money. We believe bringing people together makes them feel connected to a cause and a community, and we showed this with our block party. Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration possible.

The day started with some fun Romanian folk dances presented by Hora Romanesca. After a few numbers, the dance troop brought the audience up with them to teach them some traditional Romanian folk dance moves. After this Liliana Gayoso graced the audience with her majestic Peruvian Dance and traditional dress.

These dances were followed by BFR’s first live Rescued Food Cook-Off. Two exquisite chiefs went head to head crafting gourmet meals out of food that BFR rescued from Milk and Honey Farms, and Costco. All three judges were left speechless by the quality of meals that these chiefs were able to prepare with just a half-hour to work. After these events and the silent auction closed Mono Vede Collective brought the party home with their amazing Latin-Reggae fusion.

In addition to the mainstage events, Growing Gardens brought a goat petting zoo, we hosted the BFR bike relay race, and there was amazing food and drinks donated by our sponsors. We are extremely pleased with all of the love and support that our community came out to show us. Boulder Food Rescue feels assured to move forward in knowing that an event like this is where the hearts of our community are at.
